Classical data processing experienced a long development has formed a relatively perfect generalized surveyadjustment theory. However, it still has not kept up with the pace of technological development. In the modern geodetic survey and engineering survey, development of science and technology brought about great changes in surveying work. More and more advanced surveying equipment makes the observation means of measurement has become increasingly more and more simple. Rich accumulation of observational data allows access to more and more information.It makes more easy to get the physical, mechanical properties of any observation. Establish constraint condition according to prior information become easier. Traditional expression of equality constraints can not fully expressed the information obtained by observation. Therefore, to study new methods of adjustment become imperative. Therefore inequality constrained adjustment come into being. Inequality constraints can describe obtained information more fully. Therefore,if we can solve inequality constrained adjustment,the precision of adjustment will be significantly increased.And it also bring about tremendous changes on data processing. Its application is very broad such as geodetic inversion, decesion of GPS integer ambiguity resolution, remote sensing data processing, DTM and 2D GIS data fusion. Although the inequality constraints scope of application of adjustment has its limitation compared to the classic measurement.But scientists study on inequality constraints adjustment since the sixties of last century.In operations research the time was earlier. In this article, do more in-depth study on inequality constraints adjustment inspired by their predecessors. The specific content as follow:1. At first, introduce present situation of studying on inequality constraints adjustment of both home and abroad, then analyze the principle of least squares estimation from theory and the nature of theoretical basis for measurement of adjustment.It pave way for the following-up theoretical groundwork;2. Several classic and popular methods have been introduced.And analyze the advantages and disadvantages;3. Introducing Sum Maximum Likelihood Estimate,and lead Sum Maximum Likelihood Estimate into inequality constraints adjustment.Use MATLAB to programe and solve practical engineering examples; 4. Introduce robust estimation theory of inequality constraints problem;5. At last introduce inequality constraints adjustment's current application.In this article,lead in new adjustment model——Sum Maximum Likelihood Estimate.And it take more good results,expend studying method of inequality constraints adjustment.It also take good effect to robust estimation capability.
