With the development of economic globalization and the acceleration of the pace of production, countries in the world are increasing demand for mineral resources, mineral exploration develops from the surface outcrops to deep concealed ore and access to the research stage of quantitative and digital. The universal promotion of computer technology and the rapid development of geographic information system (GIS) provide a good technology for the prediction of mineral resources. GIS as a computer system of collection, storage, management, modeling, analysis and express spatial data can not only manage the attribute information but also manage spatial information. Whether the study of regional ore-forming system or the outlining of deposit favorable target area, GIS can not only manage integratively a variety of geo-information, but also carry through a comprehensive explanation of the multi-source information with ore-forming such as geological background, geological construction, geophysical anomalies, geochemical anomalies and remote sensing etc and determine the favorable ore-forming regions through a variety of spatial analysis methods under the guidance of experience and model.This paper chooses Baihe county map(I49E020009, longitude 110°00 ' -110°15 ' , latitude 32°40 ' -32°50 ') for the study area combined with the project of "the mineral prospective survey of Xunyang-Baihe area in Shaanxi" in Shaanxi institute of geological survey. It mainly introduces the basic concept, study content, the main function, the development process and its application for in the ore-forming forecasting of GIS, discusses the processes of database establishment and its powerful spatial analysis function in geographic information system. Analysing comprehensively regional geological background, conditions of geological structure the author establishes the multi-source geo-information databases of Baihe county map on the basis of MapGIS software platform based on field research and combined with the material of aeromagnetic anomaly, geochemical anomaly. In this paper, it describes the comprehensive prospecting criteria of various factors and establishes the favorable exploration areas with "the arisen frequency of deposits (points) " and "the weight of area" adopting the concept of a hierarchical, and carries through superposition analysis of favorable ore-forming regions, outlines the five metallogenetic target in the study area according to a comprehensive prospecting criteria, as gold-lead-zinc exploration target of Weijiashan, lead-zinc exploration target of Mugua-daxigou, lead-zinc exploration target of Dapinghongshihe, gold-lead-zinc exploration target of Goubazhen, gold-lead-zinc exploration target of Huangshiban.
