The rapid application of networking GIS has provided a great convenience for social production and pelople's daily life. However, it also faced many problems to resolve, such as territory distribution,all kinds of obtainable means,various storage formats,mufti-semantics,mufti-space-times and mufti-scales. These are all complex characteristics that may not easy to deal with. Also, they have already brought great inconvenience to information sharing and resulted in a huge waste of GIS resource .Therefore, sufficient utilization of the spatial data was hampered seriously. In order to realize the spatial data sharing and interoperation better, the transition of spatial data becomes an important problem needing solving in GIS' s application system development in recent years.The Geography Markup Language—GML (Geography Markup Language) is a geospatial data-coding standard based on XML proposed by OGC (Open GIS Consortium), it provides a typical coding standard for preservation,transmission and exchange of geography information. GML can describe varied complex data and separate the data content from the data format, so it is possible to depict different data source by the uniform spatial data model.The text encircled the masterstroke of ArcGIS and MapInfo spatial data transition based on GML. The following contents are studied:1,After analyzing particularly the diversity of many geographic data sources and studying the shortage of several traditional spatial data methods. The paper researched the spatial data transition method based on GML.GML worked as the middle standard in spatial data transition, depicting geographic spatial feature using a uniform spatial data model.2,Firstly, the Data Transformer read the spatial data source using C# language. Secondly, created GML file and SVG file according to the simple feature geography model sustained by OGC.3,The paper parsed the GML data which worked as a middle link and created corresponding MapInfo spatial data. In the end the paper realized the spatial data transition of ArcGIS and MapInfo.At last, the result of the researching and studying is summarized and the future development tendency is looked forward to in this article.
