Under the background of the obviously increasing demand for earthquake information sharing and the rapid development of geographic information technology, the construction of the earthquake science data sharing platform has become one of the key points in the work of disaster relief and science popularization. For the goal of earthquake science data sharing and presenting in the platform, the core issue is the release for geographic information and the efficient integration for data sources. Geographic Information System (GIS) is a kind of emerging technology, which can capture, store, analyze, manage, and present spatial data.Based on the study of technologies related to GIS and the spatial database theory, a specific GIS development tools has been applied to achieve the development for Shanghai Earthquake Science Data Sharing Platform. The system framework of this platform has been established by utilizing a series of integral and mature architecture provided by development tools. Meanwhile, issues such as the interactive access to spatial data (user-created searches) have been solved as well in the implementation process. Moreover, according to the project's specific needs, the system deployment task also includes the establishment of spatial data sharing services and the construction of earthquake resource databases, except the release of the website online. Therefore, this thesis provides an entire solution for how to apply GIS and database tools in the configuration of services and database. This thesis focuses on the study of the theoretical knowledge in the specific areas, which was used for the solution of practical problems by fully utilizing the advantages of ArcGIS and Oracle Spatial in graphic and spatial data field. The related work in this thesis can provide a good experience for the spatial-based applications in earthquake data.
