As an independent geological disaster, ground fissure occur in many regions where water extraction surpasses the natural of recharge aquifers in recent years. Especially in some middle and large sized cities which have big population and developed economy, the calamity brought serious consequences to local civil infrastructure. The ground fissures induced from groundwater pumping have become a focal point in geological research.In the light of the mechanism of horizontal deformation in aquifer induced from groundwater pumping, the paper has validated the relation between horizontal aquifer movement induced from groundwater pumping and the formation of ground fissure by simulation experiment. Based on the validated the relation, the typical ground fissures are studied. The conclusions are drawn as follows:1. The relation between horizontal aquifer movement and groundwater pumping is studied by simulation experiment, and the mechanism of horizontal deformation in aquifer induced by groundwater pumping is qualitative validated.1) The horizontal aquifer distortion indeed exist;2) The size of the horizontal aquifer distortion has big connection with the quantity of pumping;3) The horizontal aquifer distortion would restore in some sort after the pumping stop and the water level keep stable for a long time.2. Some typical areas were chose as the studied objects where the ground fissures disaster were serious, such as Datong,Xi'an,Suzhou,Wuxi and Changzhou. The mechanism which is validated is adopted to analyze the reason and developing course of ground fissure induced from groundwater pumping.1) During the developing course of ground fissures in Datong and Xi'an, the horizontal aquifer movement induced from groundwater pumping is a important active factor;2) During the developing course of ground fissures in Suzhou,Wuxi and Changzhou, the horizontal aquifer movement induced from groundwater pumping is the direct reason.3. In the analyzation of the relation between ground fissure and ground subsidence, it is concluded that they are two different appearance form of the stratum deformation induced from groundwater pumping, and they interact on each other during their formation.The result of the study will not only offer scientific basis for groundwater resource exploitation and using, but also have practical value at the aspects of the city in reason programming and city sustainable development.
