Shear wave velocity of soil is an important project characteristic parameter, which may show many physics and mechanical properties of in-situ soil body. The purpose of this article is to establish the relationship between shear wave velocity of loess in Xi'an area and other soil indicators. Firstly, shear wave velocity testing technology is introduced in the paper. Secondly, empirical relationship between loess shear wave velocity in Xi'an area and other important soil indicators such as water content and porosity ratio which can reflect the characteristics of soil on the basis of massive data in-situ tests in Xi'an area loess ground. Representative data are chosen and analyzed using statistical method and induction. The relationships between shear wave velocity and standard penetration number and depth of different soil layers such as Q4, Q3 and Q2 are also given on the base of in-situ tests. All these achievements afford reference for engineering design. Finally, grey system theory is introduced and grey connection analysis of two drill holes' testing data are shown in the paper. The same connection order is obtained and interrelatedness difference of the same influence factor is smaller than 7%, which shows that the gray connection analysis method is stable and reliable and is suitable for the analyzing the influence factors of shear wave velocity in soil layers. Primary-slave relation of different influence factors on the shear wave velocity in Xi'an area are analyzed using gray connection theory. The results show that the influence of water content on the shear wave velocity is major and earth natural specific weight is next. The influence of depth on velocity is minimal. The plasticity index and the void ratio have almost the same extent influence on velocity. The working of this paper will take positive effect on the application of shear wave velocity technique in Xi'an area.
