Geocoding is one of the most fundamental technologies in developing digital cities. It is a process in which the information of address location described in natural languages is converted into the computer-stored codes using coding models and rules associated with spatial coordinates. We then can determine such address that represents the location of geographical entities on a map. Using geocoding with high-precision, social-economic data can be linked to spatial coordinates, thus making intensive spatial analysis possible and spatial decision-making effective.The paper takes"Research on the application of spatialization technology for city'socio-economic information"project as a background, and takes Wuhan City as a comprehensive demonstration area, using the address coding technology of city spatial data centralized and unified management, the establishment of the address database, the realization of socio-economic data of the space, address matching and rapid query.The main contributions of this thesis are:(1) The characteristics of domestic address were firstly studied, and the standardization and separation of addresses were realized according to the real-world situation. Then the standard address tree model with eight layers was built to fit for addresses in Chinese cities by drawing on foreign address model. This model can be used as references to the standardization of address data.(2) The logic model design of the address geocoding database was completed, and the process of building the database was analyzed. According to the eight standard data model, the database structure which can save hierarchical address information was designed. Also it expounds the collection, updating, management of address data;(3) According to domestic addresses models, five types of basic methods for address matching were designed, including types of household number tablet, building number tablet, landmark, regional categories, and other addresses, familiar household number tablet and regional categories are focused on.(4) Using the C# programming language and Arc Engine, this thesis developed a address geocoding system, mainly containing inquiring and searching unit, data showing and statistic date units, address transforming and matching units and so on.
