Mold vibration takes great impact on steel continuous casting production, whether the mold vibration is normal affects the process of steel production directly. It can make the solidified shell heal rupture to prevent breakout, and can help billet lubrication to eliminate adhesion, and can improve the slab surface quality when mold vibration is normal. Therefore, it is necessary to detect the status of mold vibration. A mold vibration detection system based on Bluetooth was proposed to resolve the problems of current mold vibration detection system, such as high cost, mass volume, inconvenient installation and maintenance. This system was divided into upper position computer (UPC) and lower position computer (LPC) according to the different achieves functions of the system. The LPC and UPC realize data wireless communication via Bluetooth technology, which replaces the wired communication cable.Mold vibration data collection, A/D conversion, and data wireless transmission were completed in LPC. The UPC mainly realized the vibration data analysis and data procession, and displayed the detection results in the way of graphics and digital. The system not only realized the detection of mold vibration parameters, but also realized the fault diagnosis by spectral analysis of mold vibration.The hardware circuit and application program of LPC were described in detail. According to the functions of LPC, the hardware circuit was divide into two parts, that is, data collection module and data wireless translation, the principle and specific implementations of those were introduced respectively. Running platform of UPC was selection according to the needs of mold vibration detection. Software requirements of UPC were analyzed. And multi-threading technology and modular design were adopted in the progress of UPC application program design. The program of UPC was divided into different modules based on modular design concept, and the function and specific implementation of each module were described in detail. Bluetooth communication technology was adopted in order to improve the mobility and convenience of system detection. Combined with the requirements of system data transmission, the specific Bluetooth HCI RS-232 transport layer was used to realize wireless transmission of data and the specific implementation method were highlighted.Mold vibration detection system was built according to the research results. And the tests were completed in mold vibration simulation test bench which was researched and developed independently. Test results proved that the system runs stability and has good performance. Moreover, the error between detection results and the setting values of simulation test bench was small, which can be effective response the mold actual vibration conditions. The system will has broad application prospects in iron and steel industry.
