The distribution and thickness of marine carbonate rock layers in South China which are abundant in oil and gas are the widest and the maximum. The exploration and development in this area is one of our national strategic targets. Because of the complex geologic structure and evolution processes, the petroleum exploration in this area where traditional exploration method appeared inadequate and inapplicable is a worldwide problem. Seismic data acquisition is the foundation of seismic exploration, furthermore seismic survey design plays an important role in the quality of seismic data. Traditional survey design methods based on CMP principle or depending on only one geophysical technology can not satisfy the requirement of current exploration in complex area. Combined with experiential formulation and optimizing the cost of exploration, a new survey design method is presented, in which technologies such as ray tracing- seismic physical simulation, wave equation numerical simulation, wave equation illumination, prestack depth migration were used to analyze CRP attribute- seismic propagation characteristic, the range to receive reflect wave, the distribution of seismic wave energy, the results of migration processing et. al. The application of this method to the important exploration section between west Hubei and east Chongqing, and receive a well result. The result shows that this method is an efficient way for high precision exploration in complex area; and is a new idea of seismic exploration integrated process and acquisition.
