Quantum communication, a new cross-disciplinary developed in the last two decades, is a new research field which combines quantum theory with information theory. At present, the quantum communication is mainly related to:Quantum Cryptography, Quantum Teleportation and Quantum Dense Coding, etc. In recent years, the discipline has been gradually moving from theory to experiment, and developing to practicality.In this dissertation, based on the principles of quantum communication and quantum communication network model in which the control plane and transfer plane are separated, the architecture design of quantum switch is improved. The quantum switch is divided into three-tier structure:embedded hardware platform, embedded operating system and the upper switch control application software. Embedded hardware platform is built by using Intel IXP425 network processor as the core building, whose operating system is embedded Linux. The optimal design of the software and hardware modules are mainly addressed in this thesis. The improvement of Optical cross-Control Module is implemented by using the MSP430 microcontroller. The upper route control procedure function is added and optimized. The function of the embedded Linux system is added. The webserver Boa is transplanted into the switch and the Telnet remote login function is also added. Based on these improvements, the reliability and system throughput of quantum switch is enhanced.
