In recent years, China vigorously developed renewable resources and nuclear power. Therefore, the domestic uranium mining capacity must also be improved accordingly. The Uranium is the basic material of the nuclear industry, so our country strengthened mining the uranium ores. In the progress of mining the uranium ores, the measurement of the ores content is an important link. We ascertain the uranium ores are ores or rubbish stones according to their contents. The content of the uranium ores is proportional to the quantity of the ores gamma-ray data, so we ascertain the ores'content according to detecting the gamma-ray data. Proceeding from improving the previous detection instruments of the uranium ore, we have developed the U-Th (total) spectrometer. The aim of this research is developing a software system on the PC based on the Visual Basic 6.0 according to the character of the U-Th (total) spectrometer. We make it coordinate to the instrument's hardware and we can analyze the ores'content quickly on the spot. The program implements the following functions:1.Data acquisition: The ISA Counter/timer card produced by ADVANTECH and the PCI Counter/timer card produced by EVOC company is used and controlled in the program. Then we can get the gamma-ray counts. These functions realized through secondary development in the Visual Basic 6.0 programming environment by using the device drivers produced by ADVANTECH and EVOC company.2.Drawing spectrum: In the program, the MSChart widget is used. ADO is used in linking to the Access database, SQL language is used in getting data. The dynamic array is used in the MSChart and the function of drawing 137Cs spectrum and U-Ra spectrum is developed.3.Factor calculate: It also be called calibration. It can be divided into dynamic calibration and static calibration. We can calculate the conversion factor, the O-car impact, the weight correction factors.4.Data analysis: To get the content of uranium in the ore, we should get the ore count rate on the U channel and Th channel. After calculating the uranium content using the formula, the factors of O-car impact, weight, emanation, uranium-radium equilibrium, humidity factors have to be taken into account. So we should correct the uranium content and calculate the true uranium content without these interference factors.5.Weight acquisition: Serial RS232 in the computer is used in the program. We get the weight value and calculate the ore's weight according to the program.6.Database management: The measurement result is saved in the Microsoft Access database in the program, and the SQL language is used to read the data and write the data.7.Print reports: According to the requirement of the uranium mining on the software performance, the program designed the report function. The administrator can print out the whole day report, class report and month report.The program has reached the design requirement basically after being test. The data acquisition is completed, and we can calculate the content of the uranium and so on cooperate with the instrument. It has been used in several uranium mines in our country and meet the user's requirements.
