The study area is in the middle of Ningzhen Mountains which is located in the adjoining region of Yangtze plate and North China plate. The area is covered by the strata from Sinian to Quaternary. Because of a series of tectonic events, the tectonic framework is complex.Acidic intrusive rocks are widespread as a result of the intensive late Yanshanian magmatic activity. All the favorable conditions caused mineral resource enrichment in the area. This study followed the steps from collecting and evaluating previous geological geophysical, geochemical, remote sensing date, through field geological survey, study of typical deposits, analysis of rock geochemistry, regional metallogenic regularity summary, and finally to delineation of prospective area. With the emphasis on analysis of geological characteristics of representative skarn copper-polymetallic deposits and the material sources of mineralization.According to the comparative study on REE concentration and REE pattern of representative samples of rock, stratum, skarn and ore, using cluster analysis and ore elements analysis,it is deduced that the source of copper ores is from magma, molybdenum ore from the strarum, and iron and zinc ore sources both from magma and fron stratum.Additionally, author found that the REE characteristics of magmatic rocks in the study area are very similar to adakite. To determine these rocks is adakite or not, the author also discussed the petrochemistry and concluded that they are not adakite. From this study, prospecting direction is proposed and six favorable area are outlined for further work in this district.
