AB oil field is located in Wusiqiuerte Sedimentary Basin in Kazakhstan. Structural trap of this oil field drapes over Permian system-Triassic system asymmetric horst. Main hydrocarbon bearing layer systems are Middle-Upper Jurassic shallow marine sandstone, Upper Crataceous river faciess and delta faciess clastic rock. Jurassic system layer system is a set of heavy film which main part is massive sandstone and is mingled with mudstone deposition. Lower Crataceous unconformity which is upon underlay of Middle Jurassic and Upper Jurassic layers is a set of unequal thickness alternate layers (including:fine sandstone, silt rock, shore and meare facies mudstone).The selection of oil development method, development level, and final recovery efficiency are all based on fine geologic research of the field. Many years, we do not attach importance to basic geologic research but pursue high outcome in this oil field for some historical reasons. Basic geologic research and assessment need integrated application of various technological means. At present, reservoir assessment at home and abroad mainly focus on stratigraphic classification and comparison, pore structure characteristic research, precipitation microfaciess division, depositional model and so on. We can definite and select reservoir characterization as well as select well completion and the target of development well effectively by scrutiny of structure, reservoir bed and precipitation microfaciess. Thereby, we can gain our ends that enhancing oil recovery, increasing reserves, reducing cost of exploratory development. The paper mainly discourses the comparison and division upon developmental characteristic of oil field's middle part layers, characteristic of precipitation facies belt, the division of precipitation microfaciess, petrologic characteristic of reservoir bed, pore structure characteristic and so on. It combines present recovery situation middle area of oil field. It also covers survey of recoverable reserves at present well network, distribution characteristic of remainder oil, project optimization and so on. As an entire geologic research result, it forms a set of entire oil field development adjustment technology namely static state-- dynamic state—project optimization.
