With the improvement of the level of the bridge construction, more and more flexible bridges and other new large-span bridges projects have been completed and put into use, the trend brings new request to deformation monitoring of bridge. Presently, based on GPS technology, the Deformation Monitoring theory and application is a hot topic, and has got a wide application in the field of bridge deformation monitoring.This paper presents the deformation monitoring and the basic principles of GPS technology, based on a systematic study of the GPS deformation monitoring principle and its application in bridge engineering. It has verified its feasibility by GPS deformation monitoring test of Run-yang Bridge. The research has provided a scientific basis for establishing comprehensive safety monitoring system by GPS and other sensors, it is of great theoretical and practical significance.In data processing, the paper focuses on the Kalman filtering method application in processing data. Through cases the rationality and superiority of the method is demonstrated in the deformation monitoring of dynamic processing of data.Additionally, this paper has a comparative analysis of the GPS monitoring results and the monitoring results by Total Station. The conclusion has shown that the GPS monitoring results was stable and reliable.Finally, the author gives a brief summary of the article, analyzing deficiencies, and drawing up further research projects.
