Fabric drape is a performance of sagging due to weight, reflecting the extent and draping shape. As an important aspect of fabric styles, it's understanding and research related to many other aspects, such as the new fabric development, garment processing, material selection, production, computer simulation , stand-alone or network-based three-dimensional test system as well as clothing sales clothing .For now, it has reached a deep level that the research of the fabric drape extent impacted by the mechanical and structural parameters, but the research of the mechanical performance of fabric influenced on draping shape is few. Fabric, yarn, fiber structure and mechanical properties indirect impact the fabric drape shape, while the fabric itself, the mechanical properties ( shear stiffness, bending stiffness, interwoven resistance, etc.) directly reflects the fabric, yarn, fiber, while a variety of performance, but also directly affect the drape of the fabric shape. To some extent, the mechanical performance index erected a bridge between a raw material, yarn, fiber and fabric properties of the various properties, the research is conducive to macro-qualitative and quantitative analysis of fabric drape properties. Therefore, this article will combine mechanical properties index and draping shape, identify the key factors to affect the draping shape, provide a valuable reference for the realization of a computer simulation , and apparel CAD design.This paper briefly reviews the study of fabric drape of the main research directions and research, focuses on the relationship between mechanical properties index of the fabric and drape shape ,obtaines prediction equation through the experimental analysis of fabric drape shape, and equations are applied to the simulation program, in the VC + + platform we achieve the overhanging form of computer simulation, the main jobs are as follows:1, Research and analysis the reasons of fabric drape shape instability, and give testing methods to improve uncertainty.2, Through the main factor analysis we extracted three main factors from 10 indicators which reflect the fabric drape,they are fabric drape shape factor, the fabric drape symmetry factor, and the fabric drape degree factor. The cumulative contribution of these three factors as high as 94.52 percent, higher level reflects the information contained by the fabric drape shape. The original 10 variables consolidated into three, achieves the purpose for conducting factor analysis.3, Using linear regression we have researched the intrinsic relationship between mechanical properties, structural parameters index and the fabric draping shape, established prediction equation of drape shape based on the mechanical properties, and in the course of the study we found that fabric drape shape and mechanical properties of the fabric are closely related to,in particular the shear stiffness of the direction of 450, latitude and longitude to the interwoven resistance, thickness, and latitude density's differences can cause great changes in the appearance of fabric drape, impact drape aesthetic.4, The paper explored the effects of the interwoven resistance difference to the degree of drape shape symmetry. By curve fitting we got the conclusion that the drape shape symmetry degree of polyester and cotton fabric are impacted by the size of the latitude and longitude resistance mutations. The symmetry degree decreases logarithmically with increase of the latitude and longitude resistance variation. Symmetry degree of the polyester fabric is significantly better than that of cotton fabric. Therefore, seting the appropriate latitude and longitude interwoven resistance, minimizing variations in latitude and longitude will be more conducive to increase the aesthetics in fabric drape shape.5, In the VC + + platform, simulated contours which is get from prediction equation based on mechanical performance indicators is consistent with contours of the actual hanging, and the simulation results have random, this point is similar with fabric drape test results. from the overall, the simulation results seems ideal.
