Establishment And Verification Of Fabric Drape Prediction System Based On The Yarn And Fabric Properties

Fabric drape is a natural surface property of fabric formed by dropping due to weight, which mainly affect the formability and visual style of fabric; it is an important part for the garment design. It has two aspects to describe the fabric draping performance, which includes drape shaping and draping degree.The fabric drape performance has a close relationship with its structure parameters and mechanical properties, which can be found by a lot of experimental research and scientific calculation method between them. Since Pearce put forward "the hand of the fabric can be measured", the research of fabric draping behavior attracts more and more researchers to do. At the same time to meet people’s needs, textile enterprises or textile designers hope to predict fabric properties, so as to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of design, which is the significance of this study.Along with the in-depth theoretical study of fabric draping behavior and the improvement of drape testing instruments and methods and fabric drape characterization system, there are two directions of the fabric drape performance prediction, to establish the fabric drape indexes prediction system or simulate fabric static and dynamic behavior in the computer. These two prediction methods have some defects or deficiencies, and because researchers in fabric drape simulation usually just give subjective evaluation of the simulation effect, so this paper will put the two prediction methods together for study. After verification of fabric drape simulation, it will provide strong evidence for the prediction of fabric drape performance, so as to establish a more perfect fabric drape performance prediction system.This paper is focused on the fabric drape, to build a reliable prediction system of fabric drape. The specific solving process is:(1)Select30kinds of commonly used fabric from cotton, linen, polyester and their blended fabric, then test their basic properties.(2)Give correlation analysis of fabric drape performance and so simplify the fabric drape performance characterization. Then do the main factor analyses for the fabric drape performance indices in order to get the main factors from them.(3)Analyze the relation from fabric structure, mechanical properties to fabric drape performance by using the regression analysis method in SPSS; get the prediction equations of simplified fabric drape indices for initial prediction of fabric drape performance.(4)Put the fiber, yarn, fabric basic physical indices into the spring-mass model system, simulate the fabric dynamic and static behavior through OpenGL in VC++programming environment, thus further get the fabric drape prediction.(5)After simulation, calculate the fabric drape indices of simulation effect. Compare the simulation, prediction and measured results of fabric drape, and verify the fabric drape performance prediction system.
