To improve the manufacture efficiency,multi-cavity injection molds are usually employed to produce the plastic products. However, it has aroused a word wide passion to solve the unbalanced filling phenomenon in natural balanced gating system and the corresponding problems. Based on the previous products and modern computer technology, CAE simulation tool (Moldflow), several tasks have been carried out in this study, mainly around gating system:1. The major task is to explore the relationship between gating system and unbalanced filling phenomenon. Based on related conclusions on unbalanced filling in natural gating system, round/ladder shaped runners and the corresponding optimized runners have been molded with Pro-e, and simulated with Moldflow. The optimized runners help reduce the unbalanced filling phenomenon, and is meaningful for further study.2. Unbalanced filling phenomena have been strengthened in the gating-product model, compared to the gating-only model. It is delightful to pay more attention to cavity rather than be limited in gating system.3. Based on the analysis of time related flowing velocity, temperature and viscosity through a certain section of sub-sub-runner, it is concluded that optimized runners contribute to solve unbalanced filling issue, which is a dynamic evolution procedure.
