As we know, with larger of refining equipment, degradation of low-quality crude oil and rigor of working conditions, more and more erosion-corrosion failure happened in petrochemical multiphase flow pipelines, which affected the production and safety seriously. A lot of investigations of erosion failure prediction and erosion controlling technique have been done by many prestigious groups, such as API, NACE, UOP Company, etc. However, the existing results and conclusions were obtained from statistic analysis of failure cases, lacking processing, corrosion mechanism and flowing analysis, so, it unable to meet the actual needs of engineering.The outlet of pipeline system of Reactor Effluent Air Coolers (REAC) in Zhenhai was taken as the main study object, and the thesis mainly engaged in studying simulation and prediction of multiphase erosion-corrosion. The erosion-corrosion mechanism of flow–structure coupling is studied. The simulation and computation of multiphase flow dynamics are obtained by using ASPEN and FLUENT software, based on which the prediction method in multiphase flow pipeline system was attained. The application software for erosion-corrosion prediction was developed for guiding the thickness measurement of petrochemical pipelines. A mixed-programmed model of Visual Basic and Visual C++ was used in this set of software, as the same time, SQL Server 2000 database was used. The main functions of the software including initial data entry interface, flow-induced erosion prediction, results analysis and system information management, etc. In the end of the thesis, a carbon steel elbow in outlet of REAC pipeline systems were selected as actual cases, combining with the data obtained through engineering thickness measuring, the analytic results verifies the reliability and accuracy of erosion failure prediction methods and that of application software for petrochemical multiphase flow pipeline system.The innovative of thesis was shown as follows: According to the erosion-corrosion failure case of outlet of REAC pipeline systems, the water phase fraction and shear stress was taken as key characterization parameters in the process of erosion-corrosion failure prediction, based on which, the critical areas where erosion-corrosion happened were known. The application software to predict erosion-corrosion was developed. It can carry out automatic erosion-corrosion prediction.
