It is known to all that our basic needs connected closely with dyes. Knowing that a certain dyestuff have carcinogenicity, the research and development of environment-friendly dyes have become the target of dye researchers. In this paper, starting from the consumer's health, the writer used chalcones that have had a variety of pharmacological properties instead of the carcinogenic intermediates, and synthesized 15 kinds of dyes that have not been reported in the literature. Specifically from the following areas:(1) To the principle of non-toxic and pollution, synthesized 4 kinds of intermediates of the new dyes, and studied the selection of synthesizing route and catalysts, optimization of reaction conditions, product separation and purification. They were characterized by IR,1H-NMR,13C-NMR and MS.(2) The above-mentioned four kinds of novel azo dyes intermediates via diazotization and coupling obtained 15 kinds of environment-friendly dyes. Their visible spectra were studied, and their structure were determined by 1H-NMR and IR.(3) By dyeing in the cotton fiber and leather, experimental results show that these dyes have good dye uptake and fixation rates, and low salt dyeing conditions reduces the environmental pollution.(4) Such dye chromatography is complete, bright colors, printing and dyeing process is simple, is expected to be a class of non-carcinogenic health dye. They will have good economic and social benefits.
