Tool wear is the prominent problem in the milling of difficult-to-cut materials. The tool wear cause the change of geometric parameters, cutting force and cutting temperature increasing, and gradually affect the machining quality. So the manufacturing cost will be increasing. Therefore, the research on the tool wear of the milling of difficult-to-machine materials is very important. In this paper, taking the tool of the milling of difficult-to-machine materials as the object of study, theoretical analysis and experimental research are used to establish the relational model between the factor and tool wear by the processing experiments and the factor of tool wear in the NC machining. The data of tool wear, which are obtained by mathematical treatment and map measurement, is used to establish the coefficient of the model of tool wear by the method of multiple linear regression and least-squares. A series of machining orthogonal experiments are designed and finished on machining center for the ball-end mill of cemented carbides cutting tool milling stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9. In the milling of stainless steel, tool wear will be mapped into aluminium alloy 6061 which has no or less influence on tool wear, and the tool wear are obtained by CMM and conversion. The method of multiple linear regression and least-squares is used to establish the coefficient of the wear model of milling stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9.
