Laminated ceramic is a kind of high strength, high toughness creamics developed from pearl and shell. Due to its remakable toughen effect, laminated ceramic become a hotspot in current days. Ductile phase toughened is one of the most promising ways. In this paper, ZrO2-Al2O3/Ni and ZrO2-Al2O3/Nb-16Si laminated ceramic was fabricated by tape casting and hot press sintering. The lelationship of the process, microstructure and mechanical property of the laminated creamics were researched.This paper used hot press sintering to fabricate ZrO2-Al2O3/Ni laminated ceramics. When the sintering temperature is 1550℃, the pressure is 25MPa by hot-press sintering; the density of ZrO2-Al2O3/Ni laminated ceramics is 5.35g/cm3. The sintered laminated ceramics have excellent mechanical properties with the maximum strength and toughness of 747.5MPa and 18.29MPa?m1/2. The main toughness mechanics of laminated ceramics were crack deflection, nanograin and the residual stress.This paper used hot press sintering to fabricate ZrO2-Al2O3/Nb-16Si laminated ceramics. When the sintering temperature is 1600℃, the pressure is 25MPa by hot-press sintering,the as-sintered laminated ceramics have excellent mechanical properties with the maximum strength and toughness of 300 MPa and 11.2 MPa?m1/2. And it has studied the way of crack growth of the laminated ceramics which is ladder-shaped.
