In recent years, the breakthrough progresses have been made in the research of novel catalysts for polymeratin of olefin. After the revolutionary change of metallocene catalysts, more and more attentions have been focused on the non- metallocene catalysts. In this thesis, eight schiff base metal complexes, which synthesized by the reaction of TiC14, FeC13, or Ti(OBu)4 with schiff base A and B, were used as major catalysts. Schiff base A and B were prepared by the reaction of salicylaldehyde with 1 ,2-phenylenediamine and aniline. The polymerization of styrene were catalyzed by the schiff base metal complexes / Grignard Reagent catalytic system. Polymerization reactions were investigated at different polymerization temperatures catalyst composition~. catalyst amount~. monomer concentratiorn Mg / Ti mole ratios~. polymerization timex polymerization solvent. The structures of the polymer were characterized by ?C-NMR~ IR~ DSC and X-ray diffraction techniques. The results indicate that the polymerization mechanism is coordination polymerization and the polymer has stereospecific structure.
