Seventeen dis-Schiff base compounds L1to L17have beendesigned and synthesized by aldehyde (3-chloro-2-hydroxybenzadehyde,5-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzadehyde, salcylaldehyde, and4,4-biphenyl-dialdehyde) with amine (4,4-diaminodiphe-nylmethane, bis-(4-aminophenyl)-sulfon,1,2-ethanediamine,1,3-diaminopropane,2-aminophenol,2-nitroaniline and3-nitroaniline). The compounds havebeen characterized by1H-NMR, IR spectra and X-ray diffraction analyses. Some conclusions have been summarized due to the fluorescent propertystudies.(1) The position of the substituted group has an important effecton the strength of the fluorescence.(2) The fluorescence strength of thecompounds derived from aromatic amines is stronger than that ofaliphatic amines.(3) The fluorescent intensity order of the compoudsderived from salcylaldehyde and its derivations with aromatic amines is 3-Cl>5-t-Bu> H.(4) The fluorescent intensity order of the compoudsderived from salcylaldehyde and its derivations with alphatic amines is5-t-Bu>3-Cl> H. Some conclusions have also been summarized in thestudy of the fluorescence properties of Schiff base complexes.(1) Thefluorescence intensity of complexes derived from L1, L2, L3and L4withZn2+or Cd2+are weaker than the corresponding compouds. Thefluorescenc intensity of complexes of Zn(II) is increasing with theconcentration increase of Zn(II).(2) The fluorescence intensity of thecomplexes formed by compounds L5, L6, L7, L8and L9with Zn2+orCd2+is stronger than the corresponding Schiff base compounds. Thefluorescence intensity of complexes of Zn(II) is increasing with theconcentration increase of Zn(II).(3) The fluorescence intensity of thecomplexes formed by compounds L10, L11, L12, L13and L14with Zn2+or Cd2+is stronger than the corresponding Schiff base compounds. Thefluorescenc intensity of complexes of Zn(II) is increasing with theconcentration increase of Zn(II).(4) The fluorescence intensity of Zn(II)complexes is much stronger than Cd(II) complexes with thecorresponding Schiff base compouds.(5) The fluorescence intensity orderof the complexes derived from salcylaldehyde and the substituedsalcylaldehyde with diamine is3-Cl>5-t-Bu。...
