High speed, high efficiency and high precision has been the main developing trend of numeric-control(NC) machine tools. The structure has to be improved to keep up with the tendency by making the wall thinner and the moving parts lighter. And now the static and dynamic qualities of main structure system are becoming the important indexes of modem mechanical machines. To meet the need of NC machine tools?development and~adapt to the heated market competition, the traditional design routines will have to b~ reformed. And this is just what we have devoted to do in the research. The main three creative points that this paper includes are as follows: (1) Based on deeply analysis and summarization on modem NC machine tools?main structure system, a new model method called 揻eature model based on middle-plane? is developed. The whole process of designing concept with this method is shown by an example of main-axis box in (2) Based on the theory of main sttuztur~ system of NC machine tools?weakness identify which we have presented before, we advanced another new conceptions such like weakness degree of joint faces(JFWD), macroscopical weakness degree of part(PMWD) etc. We applied it in the weakness identify ofNCmachinetoolsmainstnEtui~, il~ result shov~s that il~e lheoty is reliable. (3) Using the theory we have developed, we analyzed the TH6950 NC machine tool made by KAIQI Co. And modified it抯 structure, which reduced dynamic displacement between tool and workpiece under the superior modal and superior direction by thirty times. The machining capability of the NC machine tool was advanced greatly. Furthermore, the paper summarized theory we have developed before and made the software based on it more practical.
