The Study And Applications Of The PLC And Superior Computer Used In The SUPER9 Cigarette-making Machine

The eight sets of SUPER9 cigarette making machines are the main manufacturing equipment in the branch of KUNMING CIGARETTE FACTORY, which were imported from MOLINS, UK in early 90s last century. These equipments have worked more than ten years;their control system included singlechips, electronic components, and some of the on-line elements have been aging;Their performances had been declined;Interface between operators and the machines does not work well;Faults are increasing as time goes by. All above-mentioned have affected seriously the efficiency, and have resulted in maintenance and spare parts consumption increasing rapidly, In this case, it is time to rebuild the control system with developed PLC system.With the development of the functions of the PLC, PLC has been applied widely in many fields. The product and technology of Allen-Bradley Company, USA, have very strong advantages in PLC domain. They have been applied widely in industrial automation field in China, although AB products enter into the domestic market lately. Based on the current situation, the boss of factory decided to rebuild and replace the SUPER9 machine's electric control system with AB PLC. We have carried out a series of modification by ourselves after rebuilding the automation control system. With the help of our technology innovation and progress, we assure the machines running stably and reliably, minimized the maintenance and consumption of the spare parts. Herewith, we have compared the difference in the electric control system between the former and the later, introduced the AB's software and hardware concerning PLC products and technology, mentioned the technique points during we had researched and solved these technical problems. Two years passed, the practice prove that the performances in aspects shown from the No.9 machine, which had been rebuilt with AB's PLC, are more excellent than the original MOLINS's machines.This article includes five chapters. The author hopes that teachers will point out mistakes and shortages so that they can be corrected.
