The rough cobalt梑earing sulfide concentrate is by梡roduced in?the Titanium梡rocessing plant of the Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group Company. It is very difficult to continue to be concentrated because of too lows cobalt and sulfur grade. In this paper, a new flotation technology on how to improve the cobalt and sulfur grade of this concentrate was introduced in order to solve this problem. The new technology includes two respects: the new conbined flotation reagent and the new flotation flow sheet.After a great deal of tests on choosing the collector and the concentrate flow sheet, a new composite collector CF with high selectivity and collectivity and the new flotation flow sheet was adopted. The new flow sheet consists of two梥tage cleaning flotation and one梥tage scavenging flotation. Therefore, a satisfactory cleaning result of the coarse or fine rough cobalt梑earing sulfide concentrate can be obtained by using the composite collector CF and the activator copper sulfate and controlling pH at ?.0. In the closed test, the grades11of cobalt and sulpHur are no less than 0. 32% and more than 35% reapectively and both recoveries are more than 80%. This new technology can successfully solve the problem of the concentrate and utilization of rough cobalt梑earing sulfide concentrate. According to their flotation properties, the cleaning flotation test of the feel mixed by the coarse and fine rough cobalt梑earing sulfide concentrates was successfully carried out and the corresponding new cleaning flotw梥heet was recommended.It has been indicated by ?the study of the mineral surface adsorption amount and surface flotation properties that the activator copper sulfate can produce a thin copper sulfide coating on the surface of the cobalt梑earing pyrite and the pyrrhotite to improve their floatability. The composite collector can be absorbed more effectively on the mineral surface activated by copper sulfide. Therefore, the flotation index of the cobalt梑earing sulfide concentrate becomes better when using the composite collector.
