Plasma Activated Sintering (PAS) is a short time, high temperature densification process based on three main contributions: plasma generation, pressure application and resistance sintering. It is a new rapid densification process that has the potential to minimize the grain growth by enhancing particle sinterability through particle surface activation and rapid heating. In this paper, major sintering processing and new application of plasma activated sintering have been reviewed. The advantages and the direction of research of plasma activated sintering have been analyzed. The research method of mechanism has been determined. The equipment and processing of plasma activated sintering were investigated.
