More crushing and less grinding is considered as a directed and effective method with which consumption of the energy and material in grinding and crushing will be decreased and is also a kind of obvious way of increasing production capacity. Reducing the size of mill feed became a technical problem concerned by the mineral processing plants. The capacity of the mill was designed 107 ton per hour in Panzhihua mineral processing plant. But the capacity of the mill never reached 107 ton per hour because of low efficiency of the spiral classificator and high hardness of the ore. The capacity of the mill comes down continuously with the dropping of ore grade, the increasing of the gangue and the reducing of the size of the mill feed. So, reducing of the size of the valuable minerals in ore and increasing of the capacity of the mill have become a important problem in the mineral processing of Panzhihua iron and steel corporation. The technical factors of fine crushing of Panzhihua ore such as the way of force acting, the size of crushing production and the consumption of the energy of crushing one ton ore have been studied through fine crushing experiments of Panzhihua V-Ti magnetite ore. The appropriate type of fine crusher of Panzhihua V- Ti magnetite ore has been selected out through comparing and analyzing of fine crushers. The fine crushing technical scheme appropriated to the Panzhihua mineral processing plant has been put forward based on the analyzing of the closed circle flowsheet of three stage crushing and one screening, the open circle flowsheet of three stage crushing of Automatic Closed Circle Crusher (ACC) and the open circle flowsheet of four stage crushing of ACC. The method of union force acting that pressure force is essential and shocking force and shearing force are supplementary is suitable to the fine crushing of Panzhihua V-Ti magnetite ore. The appropriate size of crushing production should iii Abstract be lower than 8mm. The consumption of the energy crushing one ton V-Ti magnetite ore can be lower than I Kw.h. ACC is suitable to the fine crushing of Panzhihua V- Ti magnetite ore. ACC four stage crushing open circle flowsheet agrees with present condition of the mineral processing plant of Panzhihua iron and steel corporation. It is estimated that the capacity of the mill will reach 110 ton per hour if four stage crushing open circle slowsheet of ACC is used in the mineral processing plant.
