| The fume discharged from coal-burning boilers makes an important distribution to the air pollution. So it is very necessary and emergency to monitor and test the dust concentration and granularity. This paper designed and developed an on-line dust monitoring system, which adopted the advanced semiconductor laser technology, optical fiber technology and micro-computer technology, based on 80C196, using light extinction method, and can provide an on-line monitor of gas opacity and dust concentration. The successful development of this system will greatly improve the present dust monitoring condition in the power industry.
