Coal dust harms workers’ health and property safety seriously, and dust testing has gottenmore attention from our country. Based on Mie scattering theory, this paper has studied theinfluence of the grain size on the scattering intensity distribution. Using the ratio betweenscattering intensity and transmission light intensity, the mathematical relation model betweenthe ratio between scattered light and transmission light and dust concentration is established.Using laser sensing technology and choosing the right optical components, a kind of newmine dust concentration detector is designed.In this paper, the mine dust concentration detector used low power consumptionMSP430microcontroller on electrical signal data acquisition and processing, realizedreal-time online output through MAX485bus to the ground for data transmission. This paperdesigned the laser sensor detection function modules of the hardware and software. Andhardware design concludes detector for stability through frequency laser power supplymodule, optical signal detection module, infrared remote sensing module, digital displaymodule, communication module etc. Frequency stability of laser power supply module canmake the frequency output laser signals stably. Optical signal detection module realized thelaser signals to electrical signal conversion and weak signal processing. Using the infraredremote sensing module, it completed sending and receiving data between remote control unitand detector. Digital display module used to display dust density. The micro processing unit ofthe detector through the corresponding signal data processing, digital filter and dust removaldevice drivers, software design, implement remote control decoding, data acquisition, datafiltering, concentration calibration, data writing, digital display, serial communication moduleand standard output current consisted of software design.In this paper, the design of dust concentration detector realizes the on-line monitoring,real-time output, improves the reliability and applicability of the detector, also has smallvolume, light weight, simple operation, low power consumption advantages, and can bewidely used in industrial and mining enterprises, public occasions in the air environment ofdust concentration real-time monitoring.
