This thesis, the basic theory of infrared temperaturesurvey is elaborated at length. The author making use ofinfrared instruments inspected the coal (rock) samplesfailure process under single direction stress and shear load,and analyzed the different phase of failure process of coal(rock) sample and the corresponding infrared thermovison.Aimed at the different variety trends of coal (rock) sampletemperature field, the all experiment sample's temperaturevarieties are classified in four types. The author put forwardulteriorly that there are three main factors: the plasticdeformation of material, the high speed spread of crack andfriction faces gliding, that influenced the temperaturechange of sample. The author analyzed the later two factorsulteriorly from theoretic point of view.
