With the development of automatic control theory and computer control technique, the automatic and intelligent tendency of the wood-based panel (WBP) machinery is inevitable. The demand by various users of WBP for better quality is raised appropriately. The wood-based panel thickness deviation is a key factor among. The wood-based panel抯 quality should be solved immediately by WBP enterprises, how to control the thickness deviation in the minimum limit is an urgent problem. On the base of appraising synthetically of measuring and testing technique and the monitoring system of thickness, applying intelligent instrument design method, the paper study on the on-line monitoring system of the wood-based panel thickness. Through analyzing the demand of thickness deviation, a new monitoring method basing on ultrasonic measurement technique and computer control technique is put forward. This thesis discusses the design and implementation of the on-line monitoring system of wood-based panel thickness. It introduces the structure and the working principle of the system in particular, expatiates the development at the hardware and software design, analyses the reasons of error and provides settle methods, analyses the test data of the system. The test data indicates that the system has an upper precision. It precedes 0.05mm. The system provides a new, flexibility and high efficiency means for the on-line monitoring of wood-based panel thickness. It controls effectively the wood-based panel thickness deviation, and meets the requirement of development of the wood-based panel machinery.
