The compound tray is a new type of tray , it is composed of the corrugated metal sheet packing under the duallow tray. The compound tray holds excellent features , it has been successfully used in industry namely , methane alcohol ethanol , methyl aeetyl distillations and etc It is also expected to have a broad prospect for applications in other chemical industry field In this paper , many studies are concerned with the gas liquid duallowing the hole and oscillating regulation of the compound tray by experiments These studies will provide theoretical and experimental foundation for the design and improvement of the compound tray The main part of which is a 500 mm inner diameter three compound trays column , serving as a hydrodynamic model , the system air ?water at normal pressure has been used The compound tray fractional free area may be divided into three parts namely~ liquid passing through, gas passing through and liquid blocking in the hole The three parts ratio of the three kinds of fractional free area compound tray are measured by utilizing the multiine conductivity survey system ; the froth and the compound tray pressure drop fluctuations are measured by utilizing the plate differential pressure computer system The experiment datum are analyzed by using MATLAB and EXELL software and etc , the results are as follows 1. It can be seen that three parts ratio change with F parameter , liquid flow rate and fractional free area2. The gas ve1ocity of the ho1es can be ca1cu1ated by usingthe experimental gas passing through ratio of the freearea. When the tower f1ood, the gas ve1ocity of the holeis about 11 m/s l3. Based on the three parts ratio measuring in theexperiment, '' T" (the 1 iquid passing through ratio) ofB. B. il H n b M a H mode1 has been modified,introducing parameter "K", the corre1at ion coeffic ientis 0. 82, modified mode1 have better predictions for '' T"in the range 0. 7
