The 1420 aluminum alloy is a kind of special deep forging. And it is used widely in Space and Air industry. However, there still exists the fact of the serious variance of the top and bottom thickness of the product. And it reduces the productive efficiency and increases the cost of production. The main purpose of this thesis is to research the factors that influence the variance and the possible way to eliminate the variance. Firstly we theoretically analyze the liquid characters of the metal when forging and punching. We also practically simulate the process of forming of the 1420 aluminum alloy with the finite element analysis software ANSYS. According to the picture of flow and stress, we found that the equivalent stress and equivalent strain reach its highest point at the corner of the little head of the punch, and it is also the place where the metal flows most quickly and the pressure is highest. Secondly we deduct the formulation of the force of forging process, we found that the inhomogeneity of lubrication and the odds of the punch to the right axes may be the most important factors that lead to the variance. The analysis of the product data and the die character data has proved our estimation. Finally we bring up a few measures to decrease the variance, and some of them have been ideally applied to the practical performance.
