The silane grafted and water crosslinking TJDPE structure and performances were studied, and the drawback of crosslinking HDPE were reviewed. The silane cmsslinkable polyethylene (SCPE) /PA blends were also explored; the influences of hydmlizntion, blending way and compatilizers on properties and the mechanism of them were discussed. The results are as follows:(1)The long time of hydrolization for thick SCPE samples is the primaiy drawback in the processing of silane grafted and water cmsslinking HDPE, if there is not enough hydrolyzing time , the significant difference of gel between the skin and the core of sample will occur. For samples with thickness of 10mm, hydmlyzing and crosslinking for 2 hours in 960C water, the curedthickness is about ito 1.5mm.(2) Blending with a certain content of PA, the mechanical performance of SGPE/PA blends such as tensile strength and flexural strength and heat deform temperature (HDT) increased while the Izod impact strength decreased. The experimental results shows that the general performance is best with the PA content of 5-100/owt.(3) Hydmlization and crosslinking are in favor of compatibility of SGPEA. The results of SEM show that the phase of PA bad less size after hydrolyzed and the interfacial interactionswere strengthened.(4)Blending methods also exert influence on the performance of SCPFIPA blends.2Our studies show that SGPE blended with master-batch that premixed PAlcompatilizer (method one) gains a high performance than that blended directly with PA and compatilizer (method two).(5) Different compatilizers markedly influenced the morphology and performance of SGPEIPA blends, SCPEIPAIcompI blends can obtain higher performance than SCPEIPAIcomp2, especially at 5-1O%wt content of PA.(6)The analysis of SEM and test of water absorbtion of SCPE/PA suggest that the introduction of PA could effectively introduce water into the inside of samples, consequently shorten the hydrolizing and corsslinking time of SGPE needed greatly.
