Ten new mononucleais dinuclear and trinuclear zinc( II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by Elemental Analysis, Molar Conductivity, Infrared and ultraviolet-visible spectra.The structure of [Zn(EDTB)]Cl2 -5H2O(E1), where EDTB represents N,N,N',N' - tetrakis ( 2' - benzimidazoly - methyl ) - ethanediamine , was determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction. The complex is Trigonal and space group P31 21 with a=14.033(4)A, b=l 4.033 A,c=33.239(7)A, a =90 ?, 0 =90 ?, Y =120 ?,v=5669(2)A3,Z=6,R,=0.0730,wRz=0.1655, [Zn(EDTB)]Cl2 ?5H2O is a charil molecule, in which the zinc(II) center is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms of benimidazole group and two aliphatic amine nitrogen atoms from the ligand EDTB, forming a highly distorted octahedron.In the syntheses of complexes with the ligand EDB (N,N-di (2-benzimidazolyl-methyl)-imine) and Zn(CH3COO)2 ?2H2O,a new compound unexpectedly was obtained. It's structure was determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the tricline system and space group P2(1)/C with CaoHjgNeOz - 2H20, a=11.182A, b=6.0270(12)A, c=14.654(3)A, a =90?,0 =92.63(3)?,v=90?,v=986.6(3)A3,z=2,R1=0.0684,wRz=0.1481.The production of this cyclo-dipeptide compound,C2oH,gN6O2 2H2O, indicates a benzimidazol group is broken, and dimerized to form benzoimidazoly-cyclo-dipeptide.The hydrolysis of O,O' -dimethyl -O"-para-nitrophenol-sulfo-phosphoester catalyzed by [Zn (EDTB) ] C12 ?5H2O(E1), [Zn4H20(E5) and [Zn3(DTPB)(COOC2H4COO)Cl3]Cl 2H2O(D1)(DTPB is 1,1,4,7,7-penta (benzimidazol-2-ylmethyl)-l,4,7-diethylenetriamine) have been followed by UV-Vis spectrum. The reactive speed constant in the range of pH=7.9-9.1 has been obtained. The results show that the complexes have good catalytic ability and they can act as model compounds of alkine phosphatase.
