With further development of economy in China, a lot of new wastewater treatment plants are been building, and a vast amount of sludge has been produced. How to dispose of and utilize sludge should be take seriously.This paper simply introduces the main technological progress of thickening, dewatering, anaerobic digestion, composting, incineration and new development of sludge treatment techniques. Examples of sludge treatment technologies abroad are presented and the domestic situation and development in this field are reviewed.Meanwhile, this topic centers on researching on the process operation of sludge thickening, dewatering and anaerobic digestion system of Gaobeidian Wastewater Treatment Plant. The main items researched in this paper are listed as follows.Firstly, the author analysis on the operation of sludge gravity concentration system by the process tests.Secondly, the author analysis on the various processes controlling indicators of normal operation of sludge anaerobic digestion system, and analysis on the variety trends of these indicators when the volatile solid loading of sludge anaerobic digestion system is changed. Then, the author design a typical methane gas utilization system of sludge anaerobic digestion process as a example, and introduces the Optimize design of process and the installation of safety equipment and the control philosophy of system pressure.Thirdly, the author analysis on the operation of sludge dewatering system.Finally, on the basis of analyzing on the characteristics of sludge of Gaobeidian Wastewater Treatment Plant, and in combination with present sludge disposal technique and its development trend to propose the disposal ways in China and the suggestion on sludge dispose in Beijing.
