Pipe reactor is a very important and common reactor which is used in the chemical industry. It is designed by following as pipe flow reactor. Though it simplify greatly the design of pipe reactor in some degree,with the development of chemical industry it is necessary to exploit a newly pipe reactor for the purpose of increasing products and reducing energy exhausted. So the distributing state of flow type,the properties of turbulence and transfer process between granule and liquid in the pipe reactor should be researched.Instantaneous velocity of the fluid-point is measured with LDA(Laser Doppler Anemometer) in the pipe reactor. The series of arrivetime-velocity on the transverse section are obtained. Through analyzing these series,the distribution of average fluctuation velocity and turbulent intensity is obtained. At the same time the variety of average fluctuation velocity and turbulent intensity with the Renold number is given. At last two formulas are deduced to describe the distribution rule of average fluctuation velocity in the pipe reactor. Fractal theory is a new method to apply in time-series analysis of fluid field. Velocity-arrive time series of the fluid-point is measured with LDA(Laser Doppler Anemometer) in the pipe reactor. By calculating the correlation dimensions of different point in pipe reactor,a new method of fractal dimension is applied in the analysis of reactor's fluid field. At the same time,variety of correlation dimension with place and Reynold number(Re) is obtained.On the basis of research on the flow field in pipe reactor,ion exchange resin particles and electrolyte solutions were transported through horizontal pipeline. Other experimental variables were flow rate,Renoyld Number and so on. Experimental results were correlated with the following empirical equation under the experimental conditions studied.The above equation is nearly the same as published empirical ones for stirred tanks,which suggests that the effect of turbulent eddies on mass transfer could be identical although the macroscopic flow patterns are apparently different.
