This paper mainly describes warm and cold extraction methods, by which the flavors of different grades of tobacco from Guizhou are obtained. Further, the neutral flavor substances can be made from the extraction substances by primary concentration, acid wash, alkali wash, final concentration. The neutral flavor substances are separated through chromatograph separation, vapor distillation, co-headspace-distillation, headspace absorption & disabsorption, therefore different flavor parts are obtained. The flavor parts are analysed and identified through capillary-chromatograph/mass spectrum. The conditions of the spectrum are explored.By the methods, neutral flavor substances from Guizhou flue-cured tobacco, grade C1L and C2L, are analysed and identified. There are 178 compounds altogether in the neutral flavor substances. Among the compounds, there are 151 from C1L and 63 from C2L. By analyses, the main compounds are neophytadiene, hexadecanoic acid, ionone, damascene, isophorone, geranyl acetone etc in the neutral flavor substances. It is almost the same result from the published reports, and a few other compounds are reported for the first time. These compounds have a substantial effect on the aroma and taste of the cigarettes. All the results concerned above are of fundamental importance for the choice of tobacco raw material and flavor-adding technology, and they also provide a theoretical basis for the deeperstudy of tobacco science as well as the development of tobacco industry.
