Nanometre plastic is that inorganic filling substances scatter among organic polymer's substance at nanometre size, which forms organic/inorganic nanometre compound materials. In nanometre compound materials, the size of the disperse phase is less than 100 nanometres. As the effect of the scattered nanometre size, and the combination of large ratio surface proportion and strong interface, Na's compound material are high-technical new material which have excellent characteristic that general engineering plastic can hardly exceed.MMT which is used as nanometre inorganic phase in nanometre plastic is a kind of rich natural clay mineral in our country. It is a silicate of layer condition, which consists of three inferior layers and between two silicon oxygen tetrahedron inferior layers contains aluminium oxygen octahedron inferior layers. The inferior layers are connected by covalent bond with the same oxygen atom.which makes the combination extremely firm. It further reacts with monomer or polymer melt. In the course of the mixture of monomer polymerzation or polymer melt the stuctural sheet layer which peels off to nanometre's size and dispersed evenly into polymer. Now taking MMT as disperse phase nanometre plastic can be produced by such ways as inserted layer polymerization compound, melt inserted layer compound and so on the inserted layer compound technology is a technical renovation that based on the traditional technic. It doesn't require new and expensive equipment. The technic is simple and the operation is convenient. It is suitable for polymer modification and easy to realize industrialization.Inserted layer compound technology can realize the compound between the organic substance and inorganic substance dispersed at nanometre size. Thus the nanometre plastic can becombined perfectly with mineral's rigidity, the size's stability,tenacity of organic substance, processing and interpose electricity. There is little MMT in nanometre plastic, less than10%(ratio in quality, the same bellow) usually only about5%. But its intensity, heat resistance and so on are the same as the general glass fibre or mineral reinforced filling compound material. So the proportion of weight in nanometre plastic is low. Specific strength and specific modulus are high and don't influence its physical character and decrease the product's mass successfully. It is also convenient for transportation. At the same time, as Na's particle's size is less than light wave length, Nanometre plastic is lustrous and transparent.Because of the excellent combination of the polymer and MMT sheet layer, by controliling the nanometre silicate sheet layer's plane tropism, nanometre plastic products have good stability in size. The melt of Nanometre plastic has high intensity. It can be quickly turned into crystal. The viscosity of the melt is low. So the processing character of moulding, extursion and blow-moulding is excellent. Especially the extrusion grade and moulding grade nanometre plastic have solved the difficult problem in the world in the field of super macromole polythene processing.This article mainly discusses the MMT's processing methods and all kinds of nanometre plastic which is applied in various polymer, and the applying experiment on nanometre compound polypropylene's plastic masterbatch, which is predicted to bring great social and economic benefit.
