The silk fiber is mostly modified by chemical method in this paper. A kind of specialised microvoid silk material is produced.The mulberry silk is treated by binary system neutral salt CaCl2 and H20 and ternary system CaCl2 H2O and C2H5OH. In the calcium salt there is difference between tussah and mulberry silk. The tussah silk is treated by phosphor acid. The dissolution process of two kind of fiber and the law of the changing of the cross section morphology, lengthways surface morphology, aggregate structure and the mechanical properties are studied in this paper. It is found out during the solution process of the silk fiber, the degree of crystallization decreases and the breaking strength, breaking extension and initial modulus also decrease.On the initial stage of the dissolution of the silk, split fibrillar appears between the fibrillar and micro-fibrillar, which make the number of the microvoids in the fiber increases. On the premises of not evident influence on the wear ability, the best process condition to produce the microvoids in the silk is researched and established. The micromorphology of the silk is observed by the scanning electron microscope. The law of the changing of the microvoids in the silk after deformation is characterized by the stannic acid weighting method and the test of the wet picking and releasing moisture regain. It indicates the microvoids in the real silk fiber increases evidently after the modification.
