This thesis studies the structures and properties of this new natural yellow color mulberry silk and compares its structures and properties with some normally used silk types in the world: normal white mulberry silk, tussah silk (from Japan, etc) and golden silk (yellow wild silk, from Cambodia, etc). The thesis will provide some theoretical reference for the development and application of natural yellow color mulberry silk.Natural yellow mulberry silk is bright in color and gentle in luster. Employing electronic scanning microscope to observe the structures and properties of the natural yellow color mulberry silk, the author made a finding that its configuration of cross section is triangle and the verge is smooth and plump similar to the configuration of cross section of white mulberry silk. Furthermore, the rate of inner interspaces of the the natural yellow color mulberry silk is high. The organizing structure of fibril surface within fiber is more intensive than that of white mulberry silk and the fiber cluster structure of huge fibril is much tighter.Fourier transform infrareds spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction are used to analyze the aggregate structure of raw silk and wrought silk of the natural yellow mulberry silk. The result is the natural yellow mulberry silk and several other kind of silk are categorized as crystal high polymer withβ-folding conformation. The discovering can be deduced that the crystallinity of the natural yellow mulberry silk is lower than tussah silk and normal white mulberry silk but is higher than that of yellow wild silk. The structure of natural yellow mulberry silk is much alike to normal white mulberry silk.The thesis also concerns the testing of the mechanic properties and heat stability of yellow mulberry silk. Compared with the normal white mulberry silk that is widely used in the world, the breaking strength of natural yellow mulberry silk is higher, nearly amounting to that of white mulberry silk., the elongation at break, initial modulus and elasticity of natural yellow mulberry are a bit smaller than that of white mulberry silk so its plasticity is good.
