Microencapsule is a kind of microsphere, which is made by encapsulating dispersed solid particles, liquid drops or gas, such as medicines, enzyme, protein, microbe and animal or vegetable cells into semi-dialytic cellophane with good biocompatibility. Researches show that the application of microencapsule and the preparation technique makes it possible to control the release of medicines, cultivate cells and fix microbe and enzyme, and use it as means of immunity isolation, resolve the problem of immune repel in the transplant of tissue cells, treat diseases concerned with nerve or endocrine and metabolization, and develop artificial organs.Researches domestic and abroad indicate that silk fibroin(SF) as a kind of good biomedical material is of good biocompatibility, nonpoisonous smell-less and free of irritation, and its application in the field of biomedical materials also attracts much attention, such as fixing microbe and enzyme, being used as matrix for controlling the release of medicine and cultivating cells, and as materials for selective dialytic cellophare.The feasibility of using silk fibroin as materials for making microencapsule was investigated by preparing SF/Alginate, SF/Chitin and SF/Arabin blend films, determing their mechanical properties and testing their structure by means of X-ray diffraction and IR spectra. Based on the results of studyon the feasibility, microencapsule comprised with SF, alginate and Indomethacin was prepared. Its morphology was observed with Scanning Electronic Microphotograph(SEM), its diameter was determined with Laser Diameter Analysis, its fine structure was tested and analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction and IR spectra. The results showed that silk fibroin could be used as basic materials for microancapsule by combining with materials with good biocompatibility and bio-decomposition.
