The water exploited from Oil Fields is the water coming from thedehydration and separation of the crude oil. It includes not only some oil, butalso solid fine pariicles and chemical medicines. To protect our environmentand economize the resources, the most effective method to deal with the wateris to inject it back to the stratum after removing the fine paticles from it.So, to satisfy the high demand of the quality of the back-injected water ofShengLi Oil Field, we designed two new small hydrocyclones Whose diametersare respectively l0mm and 30mm to remove the fine particles of the water. Theangles of their cones are small (respectively 5.6" and 7" ) and the proportionsof their underflow diameters to oveffiow diameters equal aPproximatelyl(while this proPOrtion of a common hydrocyclone is far smaller than l ). Byusing these hydrocyclones, we expected to achieve high separation efficiencyand low concentration of the overfall.First, We did some experiments modelling the conditions of ShengLi OilField in the lab tO select the best hydrocyclone. The results showed that the twohydrocyclones can both separate most of the fine pedicles of the watereffectively. But the th l0mm hydrocyclone is better in the condition of lowconcentration of the inlet(such as 5%0(g/ml) ). When the concentration ishigher(such as l%(g/ml) ), their separation effects are similar but as theconcentration is much higher(such as 2%(g/ml) or above ), the th 30mm' hydrocyclone is better. Considering the working conditions of ShengLi OilField and the manufactUre tecbocs of the hydrocyClones synthtically, theIII<1> 30mm hydrocyclone is fitter. Then we did experiments and researches of this hydrocyclone systemly to analyze the influence of the configuration variables, such as the proportion of the underflow size to the overflow size and the highth of the tube inserted in the overflow, and the operation variables, such as the inlet pressure and concentration, on the separation performance of the hydrocyclone. In the end, through the data processing, we obtained the experiential math modles of the modified separation effiency and the concentration of the overfall to guide the practical application of hydrocyclones.The results of the experiment showed that the hydrocyclone can efficiently remove most of the tiny particles from the water. The concentration of the overfall can reach 226 ppm when the inlet concentration is lOOOOppm , the modified separation effiency can always be above 90% and the cut size is about Sum However, this can not reach the demand of ShengLi Oil Field, so we had the overfow flocculated choosing Polypropylene Imide as the flocculation medicament, which reduced the concentration of the overfall largely and quickly.
