Benzocyclobutene resin has been used extensively in high technology fields for its excellent performances. It is one of the hot research topics in material science .This paper briefly introduces the main synthesis methods of benzocyclobutene, its derivatives and bisbenzocyclobutene as well as the properties and application of many kinds of its resins.In this dissertation, benzocyclobutene parent was prepared by Flash Vacuum Pyrolysis(FVP). A series of studies of this reaction have been carried out. The selectivity of the reaction and the yield of the target compound were enhanced in comparatively large extent after improving the reaction devices based on the previous work. At the same time, the repeatable probability of the reaction was increased greatly. Benzocyclobutene parent was obtained with a relative high yield which is slightly higher than literatures under the similar low vacuum.Two very useful benzocyclobutene derivatives were prepared. From one of them, a kind of wholly hydrocarbon and organosiloxane-bridged bisbenzocyclobutene monomers were synthesized by Heck reaction. And five kinds of wholly conjugated bisbenzocyclobutene monomers were produced by Suzuki coupling reaction. Two of them were new type monomers. This preparation route provides a new method for preparing bisbenzocyclobutene monomers. The preparation routes, reaction conditions, influence factors and reaction mechanisms of the reactions used were discussed in some extent.
