The shift reaction of carbon monoxide lies on a very important position in the production of synthetic ammonia. It is both the course of material gas's purifty and the course of material gas's production. A large amount of steam will be consumed in the course of its shift reaction, and its consumption of steam is more than 30% of the amount steam of synthetic ammonia production. When pressurized shift reaction is taken, it can improve both the reaction speed and the production capacity, and reduce the consumption of steam, save energy and reduce investment, save the amount of catalyst, and it is good for the use of low temperature shift catalyst. In this paper, it has made an analysis and a summary about the merits and the problems that exist in three various technology of pressurized shift reaction.And the all low temperature technology with no saturated hot water tower is thought the best technology of shift reaction. The transformation stove is the key equipment of shift reaction. In this paper, mass and heat calculation of pressured intermediate temperature shift stove have been made according to the practical productive state of XiangJjang nitrogen fertilizer plant. The composition in import and output of every stage of the stove and the equilibrium transformation efficiency and their most suitable temperature all have been calculated out. And the amount of steam should be added and the heat that losses or be added in each stage of the shift stove is also found out,at the same time ,the equation of operating curve in each stage is formed, the equilibrium curve and the most suitable temperature curve have been drawn out as well. In the meantime,the programme has been made about the shift stove, and we made a simulated calculation in order to optimize the operation of shift section, and have found out the suitable reaction temperature in three states and got a larger shift efficiency. In addition to this, the influence to shift reaction caused by temperature has been analyzed. And it has described the problem of consumption of energy in shift reaction from the part that how heat be compensated and how it be restored and used, and it has analyzed and summarized the problems and shortcomings in pressured shift systems.
