In this paper, phenomenon of friction of the shearer during work is studied, which include friction between bits and coal, parts of machine, the shearer and the conveyor. Forces and rotation of conical bits during work are analysed. Using VC++ and OpenGL the program is made to calculate conditions of the bit's rotation, and three dimensional simulation is made for it by computer. And system of calculation and simulation with the changes of parameters is formed for realizing visualization of the bit's rotating process. For meeting with the need, measurement of friction coefficient between coal and steel is made, which can provide basis for design of the shearer drum. Also, this paper deals with friction between parts of machine, the shearer and the conveyor, measures for decreasing friction and wear are got.
