Rare elements Gallium, Indium, Germanium are modern important material in new and high technology field, They are used widely in most advanced branches of science, such as the industries of the electric apparatus, the national defence and military, spaceflight aviation and medical and health, etc. There are only trace content in the earth's crust, and companioned with other metal together, Need methods of determination with high sensitivity and selectivity to determinate Gallium, Indium, Germanium. The spectrophotometry is best common analysis method, simple instrument, because it is easy operating and suitability widely. To determinate Indium, Germanium by Uv/vis- spectrophotometry need a series of separation operations to remove coexisting ions. The method of determination of Germanium with Salicylphenylfluorone(SAF) have advantage of simple operation and accuracy except interference of Stannum(IV), but operations of determination of Gallium by means of butyl-Rhodamine B or Indium with Rhodamine B are very complicated. As widely application of color reagents with high sensitivity, color complex compound systems, extraction and colorimetry, proposal of new analysis methods, the Uv/vis spectrophotometric methods of determination of Gallium, Indium, Germanium have been developed rapidly. This paper studied systematically the methods determination of Gallium, Indium, Germanium the based on of consulting a large number of documents, and used to determinate trace Gallium, Indium, Germanium in waste sediment containing Zinc or waste sediment containing Copper and Cadmium. At the same time, some methods to determine other components such as Zn,Cd,As also have been studied,IXsome important results have been obtained, they have certain value of application. Main research works and results of study as follows.1. It has be studied that a mount of interference ions are separated in the medium of 6 mol/L HC1, at the presence of TlCls, by methyl benzene and methyl-iso-butyl-ketone solvent to extract Ga(HI),then reextract Ga(KI) by water, directly determine Ga(III) in aqueous phase. Utilize the single factor experiment to confirm that the optimum test conditions as: In the pH 4.0 medium of buffer solution of NaAc-HAc, 3mL 0.04% solution of color reagent 5-Br-PADAP, 2mL 10% solution of nonionic surfactant OP. At the above conditions, the A. max=575nm, mole absorption index ?= 1.06X 105, the apparent molar absorptivity at 575nm is 1.06X 105 L/(mol ?cm),the apsorption value have a good liner relationship in the range of 0~14j"g/25mL of Ga(III). The results are satisfactory when the method is used in determination of Ga(III) in sample of pure Aluminium and Zinc slag.2. On the basis of studying on determination method of Ga, a new spectrophtometric method of indium was presented. In the medium of 5 mol/L HBr, at the presence of TiQ3, existing interference ions are separated, using solvent methyl benzene and methyl-iso-butyl-ketone to extract In(III),then reextract In(fll) with 6 mol/L HC1, directly determine In( III) in aqueous phase. Utilize the single factor experiment to confirm that the optimum analytical conditions as: In the pH 4.0 medium of buffer solution of NaAc-HAc, 3mL color reagent 0.04% 5-Br-PADAP solution,2mL 10% nonionic surface-active agent OP solution. At the above conditions, the apparent molar absorptivity at 565nm is 7.53 X104 L/(mol ?cm),the absorption value have a good liner relationship in the range of 0-12 v g/25mL of In(III). The results are satisfactory when the method is used inABSTRACTdetermination of In(III) in samples of Indium.3. Spectrophotometry determination of Germanium(IV) with p-ClPF -TweenSO-CTMAB have been systematically studied. Experiments find: In the medium of 0.36~1.0mol/L H2SO4,at the presence of mix surfactant of TweenSO-CTMAB, Ge(IV) react with p-CIPP to form mix-complex compound, their color system have higher sensitivity than color system of p-ClPF with single surfactant, the apparent mole absorp...
