Along with the underground mining of mineral, the damage of the surface subsidence due to mining is gradually serious. Therefore going deep into understanding the damage of subsidence, then adopting the valid measure to lighten the damage is one of the main jobs of the correlative technical personnel. The laws on the rock strata and surface movement that have known is basically based on the rock strength, not considering exist and the effect on the subsidence laws of the fissure and the weak face. In the paper discussed the mechanical character of rock mass with joint.The measurement data, such as the dip, the angle of dip, the space and the length of joints in rock mass, is separate with the probability distribution character. This characteristic distribution of the data is the foundation of selecting the parameter of the numerical models.The breaking process of the subsidence due to mining is simulated by the RFPA software. In the aspects, such as the shape of the mining disturbance area, the effect of joint on the break angle, the break mode of the joint rock mass, the stress distribution in overburden and the effect of joint on the curve of the surface subsidence, some new knowledge is obtained.
