Conical part, a typical part with curvilinear surface is also in large proportion to deep drawing production. Therefore it is necessary to study forming characteristic of conical part, to analyze various parameters'influence on its forming limit, and to define reasonable blank holding force(BHF).Based on combination of FEM software analysis and theoretical research The paper depicts systematically stress state in various areas of blank in the process of deforming.In the thesis, forming limit of a conical part is obtained by comparing meridional force in the dangerous section with tensile strength in the same section.In the process of deforming, reasonable BHF is subjected to three limit comprising of wrinkling limit in the flange, wrinkling limit in the side wall of the part and fracture limit. The thesis determines tendency of the reasonable BHF by mechanical deduction and acquires mathematical expressions.Finally a popular FEM software is adopted and numerical simulation result prove the mathematical expressions in the thesis are instructive and valuable.
